My Inspiration
Thank you for stepping into the world of Elysium Retirement Living. My name is Avinash, and I’d like to share a deeply personal story that lies at the heart of why Elysium was created.
In the quiet corners of Melbourne, Australia, my thoughts often drift to my parents — my 77-year-old father and my 70-year-old mother. Their love and sacrifices paved the way for my sister and I, guiding us through life’s early steps and teaching us to navigate the world with grace.
Yet, as time gracefully ages them, I find myself at a crossroads. The question echoes in my mind:
- How do I repay the immeasurable debt of love and wisdom they poured into my life?
- How can I gift them a chapter of their story filled with comfort, safety, dignity, and happiness in their silver years?
The answer crystallized in the concept of “Senior Living or Retirement Living.” It’s not just a solution for my parents; it’s a vision to extend this haven to thousands of other senior citizens in India. These are individuals who, during their prime, dedicated their youth to our collective welfare and happiness.
The genesis of Elysium is rooted in the idea that the warmth and care we provide our loved ones can be extended to create a community, a sanctuary for seniors. It’s about ensuring that the later years of life are not just endured but cherished, surrounded by compassion and joy.

Meet Avinash Vasudevan
Founder & CEO
With over 23 years of extensive experience in Hotel Management worldwide and Retirement Living in Australia, Avinash Vasudevan is a seasoned professional with a passion for excellence.
Currently employed at Australian Unity, Avinash oversees assets under management totaling A$31 billion, including 26 retirement communities across Australia. As Retirement Community Manager, he played a pivotal role in launching Australia’s premier luxurious retirement community since 2017, implementing scalable processes tailored for diverse communities.
Avinash’s commitment to elevating customer satisfaction is evident through his contributions to the NPS System (Net Promoter Score) and the establishment of Asset Management Plans. He is currently focused on establishing fire emergency procedures to ensure residents can “age in place” safely and securely.
In collaboration with Mr. Purushothaman, Avinash is spearheading the development of Elysium Retirement Living, leveraging his expertise to create welcoming senior living communities where residents can thrive.
Meet Dr. Rajagopalan PurushothamanCo-Founder
With 38 years of diverse experience across Retail, Telecom, Manufacturing, and Information industries, Mr. Purushothaman is a seasoned leader with a track record of driving innovation and excellence.
As Senior Vice President at Reliance Retail and Telecom, he spearheaded strategic initiatives and managed the establishment of 14 academies, impacting over half a million individuals across 18,040 stores.
Mr. Purushothaman’s visionary leadership has contributed to transformative growth in customer experience delivery, particularly in formats like Reliance Jewels and Reliance Digital.
Currently engaged in setting up academies for Jio’s new businesses, Mr. Purushothaman continues to push boundaries and drive innovation in the senior living sector in collaboration with Avinash Vasudevan.
